18th ALUMNI BUSINESS CUP at La Ciotat

The format of the ABCup comprises 3 full days of racing and one practice day (Wednesday 16th June). Boats are 30ft racing boat (Grand Surprise) and crews are accomodated in a hotel overlooking the marina. Whilst the racing is intense, onshore activities (contests, cocktail, dinner parties) are essential to the event culture. The event is 'at cost' and priced at €750/pers. for a 6-people crew and €400 for any additional person (sailing or not). Whilst sponsoring is allowed, boats and sails cannot be marked. The regatta (each year since in 1992) is very much about promotion friends having fun and less about professional networking (although a natural side benefit). The top 5 teams are rather high performers (we strictly apply the rule of 'at least 4 sailors including the best racer must be alumni, students or spouse' ), the rest of the fleet is made of motivated teams although racing only occasionally.
