MIP Politecnico di Milano is the winner of the MBA Football Cup 2009
At the seventh attempt finally we won the tournament reserved to the Alumni of the most important International Business Schools, which took place in Milan and precisely at Garbagnate Milan on 20th and 21st of June. The tournament was attended by six teams: MIP, Luiss Rome, MIB Trieste, CUOA Vicenza, SDA Milan and Alma Bologna. We reached the final after the second place in our group (consisting in CUOA and Alma) and defeated the very strong team of Luiss in the semifinals. In the final we met again Alma, the revelation of the tournament, which defeated us for one to zero in the preliminary stage. To award the trophy it was necessary extra time, and during that our top scorer Aristeo Marras invented a fantastic goal and for that he won the "Man of the Match" award and he gave the victory to MIP. And at this moment our thoughts turn to our first participation that made us known as friendly and cheerful team (Fair Play Award) but we came back in Milan with 13 goals suffered and none did in two games. It is from that day that began our climb: third in 2004, second in 2005 (defeated on penalties) and then three third places. And now finally the first place. Achieved with particular satisfaction as the winning team was still composed of some of our first-year players: with our captain Yuij, the central defensive Lorenzo Cavalieri, Aristeo Marras goalscorer and finally the jolly Roberto Ziarelli able to play as goalkeeper, defense and forward: key player of our team. And now, after writing the name of MIP as winner of the event we need to look to the next tournament, when we will defend the title.
